Always test CP-ATO by gently raising and lowering the float before normal use. The outlet tube must never remain submerged. Also check that gravity siphoning cannot continue from the reservoir after the pump stops; depending on the installation geometry, suitable anti-siphon protection may be required.
Before you start
Positioning and anti-siphon protection are essential.
Keep the outlet above the water and check the complete geometry between the reservoir, pump and discharge point. After the pump stops, no flow must be able to continue by gravity.
Physical installation
Start-up procedure.
Mount the float switch
Place it at the desired water level.
Place the pump outside the reservoir
The diaphragm pump must remain outside the RODI water reservoir.
Connect the silicone tube
One side goes to the tank or sump, the other to the RODI reservoir. Route the tubing so that continuous gravity flow cannot occur when the pump stops.
Power with USB 5 V
Connect the USB power supply, or a smart plug/timer if you use timed safety.
Test the float
Gently raise and lower the float: the pump should start and then stop.
CP-ATO demonstration
System installation and test.
Safety with a scheduled smart plug
Additional protection if the sensor becomes stuck.
Simple method
As an example only, a window every 4 to 8 hours with about 1 minute of run time may suit some small systems. This duration must be calibrated to your pump’s actual flow rate and the aquarium’s evaporation.
Accurate method
For a more reliable setting, leave the ATO off for a known period, measure how long it takes to restore the level, then set a safety window slightly longer than that time. Test several cycles before leaving the system unattended.
Kit contents
Items listed in the product documentation.
Recommended use: nano reefs, small sumps and evaporation up to about 2 L/day.
Quick troubleshooting
Simple checks before contacting support.
The pump does not stop
Cut the power and check the float orientation and movement before putting the system back into service.
Water keeps flowing after the pump stops
Check the anti-siphon geometry: the outlet must not be submerged and must prevent gravity flow from the reservoir when the pump stops.
Checklist before use
Check these points before leaving the system to run on its own.
Check
- Pump installed outside the reservoir.
- Sensor fixed at the correct level.
- Float test successful.
- Tube outlet not submerged and anti-siphon arrangement tested.
- RODI reservoir filled.
Avoid
- Submerging the pump.
- Allowing the tube to create a siphon.
- Using the system without testing the float.
